Supply Chain Futures Forum

The SCM Futures Forum was created by GS1 Australia in August 2006 involving a group of Australian universities and teaching institutions, together with a number of corporations, whose participants had a common objective; i.e. the development of our future leaders in supply chain management and logistics.

This forum is now an integral part of ASCI, with full support from GS1 Australia.

The forum developed a set of terms of reference, which included:

• Foundational matters, e.g. incorporate global standards in current SCM courseware, including in marketing, eCommerce, ICT, transport and health sciences courses

• Academic commitment e.g. review of their curriculum, develop a GS1 accreditation program for trainers

• Industry involvement e.g. identify and explore ways industry can get involved with SCM training, education and research

• Research: To facilitate and collaborate on appropriate projects and to disseminate relevant research findings for students and industry

•Government involvement, where the forum will develop a proposition and seek government participation and recognition

• Promotion: The forum is to develop strategies to promote the profession.

The Supply Chain Futures Forum meets regularly and details of these meetings are available on the ASCI Event Calendar.
